New packaging for online orders only

Ilya Altshteyn

We love our retail packaging—it’s made from compostable bioplastic and paper. Unfortunately, it wasn’t designed for the rollercoaster that is UPS shipping. When boxes are heavy or travel far, the compostable bags break really often. That means lost food, disappointed customers, and extra re‑shipping the food.

To protect your order and prevent all of the waste, online orders will now ship in a more standard plastic bag packaging. It’s tougher and survives UPS handling, so your food arrives intact the first time. Counterintuitively, it’s actually a more sustainable choice for online shipments right now. Fewer damaged packages = less food waste and significantly lower emissions by preventing re-ships.

Nothing changes in stores: our retail packaging will remain the same compostable bioplastic + paper in retail freezers. This update applies only to online orders shipped via UPS.

To find a local retailer in your area that carries our food, please check out our store finder here.

We’re continuing to test compostable options that can stand up to nationwide shipping. In the meantime, this switch lets us deliver reliably while minimizing waste.

We’d love your thoughts. How does this change land with you? What matters most in packaging? Please share feedback in the comments or reach out to our support team—your input helps us keep improving.
